EVERYTHING IN BETWEEN

The Au Contraire Film Festival on mental health raises funds to support UP House and to destigmatise long term mental health conditions. This year's theme is #EverythingInBetween, a raw and generous look at the ways we cope, adapt, and carry on. Through them, we glimpse the chaos and beauty of being human – imperfect, but not alone.

A NOTE FROM
CYBIL GERACIMO

ACFF CURATOR & PROGRAMMING DIRECTOR

This year’s Au Contraire Film Festival highlights our struggle for grace, meaning, and beauty in the constant ebb and flow of suffering: the dance of existence. Life can overwhelm, causing deep distress, maladaptive coping mechanisms, and illness. Its traumas can pass intergenerationally like a quiet scream that insidiously colours our notions of self, identity, and culture.

Our mettle is tested through the fire, leading to gems of creative expression and resilience.

Light and humour push through the cracks. Through the sublimation of our pain, we come to know deeper truths and beauty within ourselves and without.

LA COUPE

Mental Health Champions

La Coupe Lumière, made of lacquered film strips and crafted by internationally known Quebecker Colin Schleeh, is an annual award of appreciation from the hundreds of organizations within the Montreal mental health continuum.

It recognizes the valuable contribution made by an individual to ultimately alleviate the suffering of those that live with mental illness, through programs, policies, facilities and innovation.

La Coupe Lumière Recipient

This year, we are delighted to announce that the recipient of the esteemed Coupe Lumière award is the RACOR, Réseau Alternatif et Communautaire des Organismes en santé mentale.

Founded in 1985, RACOR is being recognized for its longstanding leadership, advocacy, and visionary contributions to person-centred care.

The ACFF is a philanthropic film festival.
We need your support to make a difference!
